Papers of the American railroad magnate and capitalist, whose financial interests included steamship, manufacturing, construction, and land companies. Philanthropist, trustee of the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute and supporter of Tuskegee Institute. Collection includes incoming correspondence (1856-1904); letterpress copybooks (1868-1901); legal and financial (including real estate) records (1797-1901); amd personal papers (1862-1901). Notable among the real estate records are documents relating to the furnishing and household expenses of Huntington's San Francisco residence, and records relating to the design, construction, decoration, furnishing, and maintenance of Huntington's palatial home on 57th St. in New York City.

Papers of the American author, journalist, writer of young adult fiction. Collection includes correspondence, including family letters, as well as Hager's personal and business letters; articles, book manuscripts, and poems; and memorabilia, including book reviews, clippings, photographs, and press releases.

Horton, Lucy Ann Lewis, 1812-1901.

Papers of Lucy Ann Lewis and her husband David M. Horton. Collection contains genealogical material of the Lewis family of Oneida County, New York, account books, diaries, and photographs. Of special interest is a diary kept by Mrs. Horton, 1877-1878, with daily summaries of commodity prices, weather, and her daily workload, as well as reference to her husband's business, and news items.

Howe, Hervey Lane, 1833-1864

Collection of 40 outgoing letters to his brother, Judson Howe of McDonough, New York and one enclosure from an aunt, Lucy Knight. Also included is a biography of Hervey Lane Howe, a regimental history of the 89th Regiment, New York Volunteers, a chronology and brief synopsis of the letters, and transcriptions of the letters prepared by George W. Howe of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

American Civil War general. Collection consists of biographical scrapbook, possibly compiled by a John Taylor whose name is stamped on the front.

Hinds, William Alfred, 1833-1910.

Photograph album with photographs of various members of the Oneida Community, including William A. Hinds, Oneida Community historian, and founder John Humphrey Noyes and his wife Harriet Holton. The album was compiled by Hinds.

Hyatt, John W. (John Wesley), 1837-1920.

Collection consists of the Executive Committee Meeting Minutes of the Celluloid Company, 1890 to 1905, two bound volumes of patents obtained by John Wesley Hyatt, including one for the first celluloid billiard ball and several other patents for billiard ball coatings and knife-handles; a booklet on Hyatt's acceptance of the Perkin Medal, 1914; six photographic portraits; and a relief sculpture of the John Wesley Hyatt commemorative award.

Harris, Marguerite.

Spanning 1901 to 1978, the Marguerite Harris Papers comprises correspondence, writings, and memorabilia of the American avant-garde poet and editor (1898 or 9-1978). An active member of the Poetry Society of America, Marguerite Harris bridged the gap between two generations of poets: the Imagist and Surrealist writers, and the Beats. The collection not only reflects her professional career, but also offers a unique insight into the life and work of a number of young poets of the 1950s, 60s and 70s.
