Extensive collection of materials relating to the education, employment, marital status, and intellectual life of women in society. Material encompasses women in the U.S. as well as in other countries. Topics include education, careers, roles and attitudes, family issues (marriage, divorce, children, home management), well-known women, working women, and many other subjects. Collected by Eva vom Baur Hansl, American author, journalist, radio producer, and lecturer.

Hansl, Eva vB. (Eva vom Baur).

Papers of the American author, journalist, radio producer, and lecturer (1899-1978). Collection includes biographical material, correspondence, radio broadcasts files, speeches, and writings. Bulk relates to the radio programs for which Hansl was program supervisor (1939-1940): Women in the making of America, broadcast in cooperation with the WPA's Federal Theatre Radio Division, and Gallant American women, with the support of the U.S. Office of Education. Hansl later produced Womanpower (1943-1944), in cooperation with the War Manpower Commission.

Miles, Bebe

Manuscript of Bebe Miles, a practiced gardener, for her book entitled "The Wonderful World of Bulbs". Collection includes a tentative outline, early chapter drafts, a first draft, a carbon copy of the first draft, a galley proof, color page proofs, and a bibliography in the form of index cards.

Ranke, Leopold von, 1795-1886.

Papers of the German historian. Collection includes letters to Ranke, notes, memorabilia, newspaper clippings, and photographs, as well as poems and family letters to and from Clara Graves, Ranke's wife and great-aunt of poet Robert Graves. Also, bibliographic material about the library, compiled by Theodor Wiedemann.

Ranke, Leopold von, 1795-1886.

Collection amassed by German historian Leopold von Ranke. Collection consists of 104 bound manuscripts and 326 unbound manuscripts or parts of manuscripts. The largest single type consists of Venetian ambassadors' reports from the various capitals of Europe. There are also several Venetian chronicles, nuncios' reports to the pope, political documents from Tuscany, and a chronicle of Nuremberg.

The National University Extension Association was founded in 1915. Membership consists of universities and colleges engaged in university extension. The Association’s purpose is to develop and advance ideals, methods, and standards in continuing education and university extension. Its activities include a national annual conference and a number of publications. Records include Board of Directors’ correspondence and meetings, minutes and reports; committee files; correspondence; Project Head Start (U.S.) papers and manuals; Job Corps Driver Education Training papers; papers and photographs of the Office of Education, Adult Basic Education Teacher Trainer Institutes; and subject files for various adult education organizations and divisions. Correspondents whose letters are of greatest depth and duration include those of: Alexander N. Charters, James R.D. Eddy, A.A. Liveright, Ernest Edward McMahon, Julius M. Nolte, Lloyd W. Professional material pertains to Dr. Charters' work with a wide range of issues and organizations in the field of adult and continuing education, including the Adult Education Association (AEA/USA), Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE), Center for the Study of Liberal Education for Adults (CSLEA), Coalition of Adult Education Organizations (CAEO), Commission of Professors of Adult Education (CPAE), International Conference on Adult Education (ICAE), International Congress of University Adult Education (ICUAE), Middle States Association (MSA), National University Extension Association (NUEA) and its successor organizations, and UNESCO.
